About the event
Sally will lead a review of how we got to the point of having the highest level of atmospheric CO2 in the history of humankind, how the climate crisis is impacting our region, and how the Clean Energy Jobs Act is an important step toward addressing it. United Congregations of Metro East Organizer Marie Franklin will speak to the issue of impoverished communities and the importance of training and jobs development as proposed by CEJA. You will leave feeling hopeful and prepared to take positive action toward a cleaner, safer future!
Sally's recent graduate degree in Environmental Policy Communication led her to an in-depth exploration of U.S. energy policy from the Carter administration forward. It brought into clear focus the correlation between the build-up of greenhouse gasses, specifically carbon dioxide, and the relentless increase in global temperature. Slowing the build-up of human-made CO2 is critical if earth is to remain habitable.
The Illinois Clean Energy Jobs Act is bipartisan legislation designed to address carbon emissions, create quality clean-energy jobs, and provide a safety net for communities that currently rely on the fossil fuel economy. This session empowers participants with a to-do list of vitally important actions. (Some of them you'll accomplish before you leave the event!).
