Yin Yoga with Catherine

About The Event
Yin yoga is a slow, soothing, and meditative style of yoga that targets the deep connective tissues, bones, joints, fascia, and ligaments in the body. Yin postures are more passive postures with the majority of them practiced on the floor.
Yin Yoga is unique in that you are asked to soften the muscles, find stillness, and hold for a longer period of time. It is not uncommon to see postures held for one to five minutes. The time spent in these postures is much like time spent in meditation.
When practicing yin, the participant takes a meditative approach to access the deeper tissues. Many of the postures focus on areas that encompass a joint (hips, sacrum, spine). As one ages, flexibility in the joints decreases making Yin yoga a wonderful way to maintain that flexibility. One should try a Yin class three or four times before deciding about the practice.
